See photos (8) The unique hilly landscape of Viljandi gives the opportunity to enjoy beautiful views in all seasons. There is a popular walking trail in the Uueveski district, which runs along an illuminated staircase to the Kösti stream and from there, to the swimming pools. On a hot summer day, it is possible to cool off in the pools created by the stream. In snowy winters, the pine forest slopes are a favourite among skiers and sledders. The recreation area, which is not very far from the city centre, is great for a picnic with the family and for spending some alone time, especially when you do not want to drive far from the city.
The stairs leading to the recreation area start from the green area at the end of Endla tänav. You can park your car on Ugala puiestee. Another option is to drive to the end of Kanepi tänav, park your car there, and walk to the stream.
